The European Union and Côte d'Ivoire concluded negotiations for a Voluntary Partnership Agreement on Forest Law Enforcement, Governance and Trade (FLEGT). The Agreement will help improve forest governance, fight against illegal logging and support Côte d'Ivoire's efforts to improve the management of its natural resources.

On 12 September 2022, the first meeting of the Joint Implementation Committee (CCA by its Spanish acronym) was held in Tegucigalpa, Honduras to start overseeing the implementation of the Voluntary Partnership Agreement on Forest Law Enforcement, Governance, and Trade (FLEGT).

The Honduras-EU agreement to reduce illegal logging enters into force

The Voluntary Partnership Agreement (VPA) on Forest Law Enforcement, Governance and Trade (FLEGT) between Honduras and the EU has entered into force on 1 September 2022, making the Agreement legally binding for both parties. Honduras is the first Latin American country to have signed a VPA with the EU under the EU FLEGT Action Plan in February 2021.

Entra en vigor el acuerdo entre Honduras y la UE para reducir la tala ilegal

El Acuerdo de Asociación Voluntaria (AVA) sobre aplicación de las leyes, gobernanza y comercio forestales (FLEGT, por sus siglas en inglés) entre Honduras y la UE ha entrado en vigor hoy, 1 de septiembre de 2022. El acuerdo es ahora legalmente vinculante para ambas partes. Honduras fue el primer país latinoamericano en firmar un AVA con la Unión Europea en febrero de 2021.
